Great music instruction is about more than learning the right pitches and rhythms. It’s about building strong fundamentals, developing confidence, solving problems, and helping each student discover joy through music!
With more than 20 years of experience as a classroom orchestra educator and private instructor, I work with students as individuals, meeting them where they are and helping them grow toward wherever they want to go next.
All private lessons and tutoring are offered online, making individualized music instruction accessible to students wherever they happen to be. I utilize a vast array of resources and customize all lessons and tutoring sessions to meet the needs (and interests) of each student.
Having taught throughout the pandemic, I also have extensive experience connecting with students in a digital environment. I understand that effective online teaching requires more than simply turning on a camera. Lessons are designed specifically for the virtual format, with clear demonstrations, interactive instruction, digital resources, and plenty of individual feedback.

Music theory can feel like an entirely different language. My goal is to make it make sense.
I have taught music theory at every level, from students learning the fundamentals of notation, rhythm, scales, and key signatures to advanced students preparing for the AP Music Theory exam.
I am AP Music Theory certified and trained with Nancy Scoggin, author of Barron’s AP Music Theory. My AP Music Theory students have maintained an average exam pass rate of approximately 80%.
